About Brianna Monte

As a senior at the University of Connecticut, I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing with a minor in Sociology, aiming to become a compassionate and competent nurse in the future. I have completed multiple clinical rotations in various settings, such as pediatrics, medical-surgical, and mental health, acquiring essential skills in patient assessment, care, and education. Furthermore, I have gained valuable and career-applicable experience as a Patient Care Technician in the ER at Putnam Hospital, where I assist nurses and doctors with various duties and procedures, such as collecting vitals, labs, EKGs, and blood draws. I see and care for over 25 patients a day, working with a diverse and collaborative team of professionals. I also had the opportunity to intern at NYU Langone's Perlmutter Cancer Center, where I learned more about comprehensive oncology care and research from experienced nurses and mentors. Through these experiences, I have developed and demonstrated core competencies in patient care, teamwork, communication, and leadership. I am passionate about improving the health and well-being of others, and I am always eager to learn and grow as a nurse and a person. I am looking forward to applying my skills and knowledge in a nurse residency program this summer.
