Background
About Brianna Prazen
Social Services Professional (Social Worker) with a broad range of experience in services for youth, mental illness, and underserved populations. I have experience in work settings such as youth residential treatment, youth day treatment, youth/adult inpatient and emergency psychiatric hospitals, family foster care, immigration/refugee services, intentional communities, nonprofits educating youth and leaders in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, and in government juvenile corrections. I earned three Bachelor’s degrees in Philosophy, Psychology, and Social Sciences from University of Wyoming in 2015 and graduated from University of Denver in 2020 with a Master’s degree and license in Social Work. My concentration was in Mental Health and Trauma with a specialization in macro social work. I have used my training and my work experience in diverse settings to develop clinical skills, strengthen my understanding of systems and cultural competency, acknowledge the needs of the organization, the people, and the individual, and to remove systemic barriers. I choose to approach my work from a compassionate and trauma-informed lens and prioritize unconditional positive regard for my clients. I consider my strengths to be critical and creative thinking, ideation, big-picture conceptualization, individuation, and problem/solution analysis. I tend to largely work independently (but never at the risk of my client) and I appreciate collaboration with my team. Ethical, quality service is important to me, and so is workplace employee satisfaction. My favorite thing about social work is that it truly is an art and a science to view the system and person(s) holistically, to skillfully and tactfully address the root of issues, and to then determine which path to pursue from there. I care very much about improving the lives of those the system has not helped and working toward a future where those failures can be mitigated and prevented. I look forward to seeing where my career takes me and hope to always keep an open-mind to learn, expand, and become better.
