About Brianne Shane

Currently I work for the Institutional Research Office at Western Technical College as an Analyst and Director. Formerly, I worked as an instructor in the Chemistry Department at Viterbo University in La Crosse, Wisconsin. Courses taught include Biochemistry, Chemistry for Health Science Majors, and Introductory Chemistry. My postdoctoral work centered around alternative splicing caused by cellular stress. Studies focused on defining alternative splicing events in cancer and targeting this alternative splicing phenomenon as a therapeutic avenue. My graduate work focused on defining protein-RNA interactions involved in protein synthesis. I studied aminoacyl-tRNA synthetases where basic biochemistry techniques were employed to test enzyme function and kinetics. Other studies investigated RNA:Protein complexes using NMR, Foot-printing, ITC and fluorescence anisotropy techniques.
