About Briar Sambolin

I am a Contracts Analyst who was 11 years of experience across 4 industries. I have worked in book publishing, nonprofit, with data centers, and at a communications firm. I can work in any industry handling contracts; what I was looking for was a great team and work culture which I have at my current position. I am proud to work for Edelman. I am a negotiator, with a drive to find a solution to every impasse. I have experience drafting, negotiating, creating boilerplate language, updating language to the current industry standard, licensing domestic and foreign rights,bookkeeping, and handling DMCA notices while working closely with the co-publisher's legal department. I have worked closely with literary agents, acquisition editors, as well as entertainment lawyers. I have collaborated on options, and work very closely with every author agreement, as well as subsidiary rights agreements. In my positions at both Penguin, DAW Books, and Hachette, I have seen the process from acquisition through countersignature and publication (simultaneous publications in my best months), from administrative to director work. I truly enjoy the entire process.
