About Bridget Green

During my more than 30 years’ teaching ESL and EFL in a variety of domestic and international spheres, I have consistently received excellent evaluations from my employers, my students, and my peers. My objective is always to enthusiastically facilitate learning in a dynamic, respectful, learner-centered environment with a focus on setting and reaching achievable goals. I believe that learners feel most engaged by activities that are challenging, relevant, and enjoyable. I seek to engage people from all backgrounds and learning styles, employing multi-media sources, setting up multiple opportunities for peer interaction, learner independence, and retrieval. Every activity is an opportunity to encourage evaluation, analysis, critical thinking, and creativity. I have a history of successful collaboration with colleagues, having team-taught content-specific courses in many contexts. I have considerable experience in advising and mentoring and have designed an abundance of curriculum, assessments, and paper and digital teaching materials that have been adopted by colleagues in programs throughout the area. I am an energetic and enthusiastic advocate of continuous professional development, offering frequent workshops on instructional technology, learning activities, and materials design. My current interests include instructional design, computer-assisted language learning (CALL) technology, and online and hybrid modes of instruction. In terms of academic citizenship and collegiality, I have chaired or been a member of numerous departmental committees to further curricular goals. These committees include the Assessment Committee, which was responsible for writing, piloting, and administering three valid and reliable assessment instruments which are now used at my university every Fall; the Student Learning Outcomes Accreditation Committee, which undertook a full re-write of our Student Learning Outcomes for every skill in advance of a Commission on English Language (CEA) reaccreditation application; and the Student Feedback Committee, for which I authored and administered a variety of online surveys to gather feedback from international students at all stages in their learning experience. I believe that with my successful track record of teamwork with colleagues, as well as passion for teaching, curriculum development, and intercultural communication skills, I can contribute to the mission and strategic plan of any organization by being a collaborative and innovative member.
