About Bridget Obrien

Growing up, I always thought I would be a scientist working in a lab. I seemed to gravitate towards using reasoning and evidence to analyze an unknown problem. I would identify patterns, and draw conclusions to make informed decisions. It seemed to be the best path for me at the time. When I was a young girl, I was interested in why I process things more logically and critically compared to other girls. I wanted to understand my own struggles and why I was unique. When entering college, this led me to choose to major in neuroscience. I received research experience and learned the scientific method as well as how to draw conclusions from data. When it came to analyzing the data, I found myself enjoying the statistical analysis on excel spreadsheets. This is when I realized I was more interested in understanding science through numerical patterns. I can come to conclusions by reviewing quantitative data, identifying significance, and using visualization. Since then, I began teaching myself how to use Microsoft Excel and Google sheets effectively with statistics. I then became interested in programming languages such as SQL. With the rise of technology in recent years and my new interest in numerical science, I now have considered a career in data analytics. I am more aware of myself and found that I love to analyze data. I am planning to pursue a career in data analytics. I love working through spreadsheets, creating tables and graphs, and finding patterns and insights to make the best decision moving forward. My strengths include: Self-teaching new skills and adapting to new software. Demonstrated knowledge in statistical foundations: fundamentals, regression, charts, variability, probability, data sets, and advanced topics. Efficient with scientific writing in American Psychological Association (APA) style as empirical papers in coursework. Demonstrated scientific visualizations and professional presentations as a poster as well as a PowerPoint at academic conferences. Financial organizer and leader for student organizations. Ability to read and write in an intermediate Spanish-professional working proficiency.
