About Briel McCanless

With over six years of experience in public education, I am a versatile and passionate teacher who specializes in creating authentic and engaging scientific learning environments for high school students. As a teacher at Katy ISD, I foster understanding of ecological systems, biodiversity, and environmental sustainability through innovative teaching methodologies, including laboratory experiments, field trips, and interactive projects, to stimulate student curiosity and enhance learning outcomes. I am eager to pivot into a new career path that leverages my strong interpersonal skills, such as addressing diverse needs and behaviors, nurturing dynamic work settings, and establishing strong relationships with students, colleagues, and parents. I am proficient in using technology to strengthen the teaching and learning process, as well as data analysis to monitor and assess student progress and provide targeted support and feedback. I hold multiple teaching certifications issued by the Texas Education Agency, and I have a background in marine biology and behavioral studies. I am also fluent in Spanish and French, and I have experience in animal care.
