About Brielle Fratoni-Jaskiewicz

Brielle is a URI Speech Language Pathology program graduate with experience developing robust access to communication for the following populations within a variety of settings (school-based, inpatient, outpatient): neurological disability; autism spectrum disorder; emotional and behavioral challenges; cerebral visual impairment (CVI); Gestalt Language processors; and Childhood Apraxia of Speech. In addition, she worked as a research assistant responsible for creating an evidence-based data collection method to examine the effects of RoboKind's facially expressive artificial intelligence (AI)—MILO—within select Rhode Island public schools. Brielle hopes to pursue: research related to the role of technology within the clinical setting, assessment design, speech language pathology across the lifespan, holistic clinical environments, and AAC specialization. — About Research Assistant Position: Brielle worked in conjunction with Dr. Michelle Flippin, Professor in Communicative Disorders at the University of Rhode Island. In her research, Dr. Flippin examines the development of social communication in children with neuro-developmental disorders. Brielle developed a progress-monitoring tool, similar to the Peabody Picture Vocabulary Test Fifth Edition (PPVT-5) and the Children's Communication Checklist-Second Edition assessing AI’s ability to increase effective pragmatic language skills.
