About Brig Singh

I did my schooling at St Columbas School, New Delhi, and after National Defence Academy, Kharakvasala was commissioned into the Corps of Engineers of the Indian Army. During my army service of over 34 years, I have been posted across locations throughout the country, having completed multiple tenures in Jammu & Kashmir and the Nort East, and spread as distant as the Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Vishakhapatnam, and Sikkim. My last assignment was as Head of Department, Faculty of Electrical & Mechanical Engineering at the College of Military Engineering, Pune, from where I took retirement in 2007. I then worked in the corporate and social sectors. I was also the Registrar of Indus University, Ahmedabad. I excelled in the sport of yachting and became a National Champion, representing India in international championships. I was the National Coach for the Optimist Class of boats (for sub-juniors) for over two decades. I am also an experienced ocean sailor and was a member of Trishna, the First Indian Sailboat to Sail Around the World in 1985-87. After retirement, I travel and photograph extensively, in India and abroad, accounts of which are published on my website. My area of interest focuses on the rich heritage of Bharat seen through its ancient architecture, monuments, and knowledge systems. My articles and papers have been published on numerous platforms; photographs have also been published as “Special Collections”. I am also the Editor of a strategic affairs journal, AGNI, published in Delhi. I have been awarded Sena Medal (Gallantry) on two occasions and a Vishisht Seva Medal for distinguished service by the President of India during my Army service.
