About Brigid Cotter

Hi, there! As a PhD Candidate in Sociology at the University of Southern California, I researched cross-national family policy effects on women's and mothers' labor market outcomes. My quantitative experience extends from survey methodology to multivariate analyses, and I have managed large-scale, complicated income and policy datasets over several projects. This has led to greater interest in policy effect and development of ethical legislation. I am passionate about advancing social justice and gender equality through rigorous and impactful research, and am extremely interested in how these issues are affected in digital spaces, interactions with Content, and user safety. At USC, I have gained valuable experience as a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant, collaborating on a peer-reviewed journal article and teaching undergraduate courses on social stratification, demography, statistical programming, and analyzing social statistics. Additionally, I have founded and served on intra- and inter-departmental committees as a mentor, event coordinator, and advocate for graduate student research. Professional affiliations aside, I am an enthusiastic and compassionate community-builder, outdoor adventurer, endurance athlete, book club host, and volunteer.
