About Brigitte Danks

I work as a transaction and business strategy consultant in the Business and Investor Advisory (BIA) team at Arup in Amsterdam, focusing on technical due diligence, market feasibility and strategy studies, and compliance with EU decarbonisation legislation in the energy transition sector. The energy transition is the biggest challenge of the coming decades, as it is a monumental task and yet absolutely key to the endeavour to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees. Through my work I hope to help more decarbonisation projects obtain funding and come to fruition. My areas of specialisation are in EU decarbonisation legislation, sustainable fuels (in several applications), and BESS. My work in decarbonisation began during my time as a structural engineer in Melbourne, where I worked both within Arup and collaborating with others in the industry to improve structural design processes and practices to have a lesser environmental impact. My educational background includes a Masters of Civil Engineering (Structural Engineering Major) at the Technical University of Delft, in the Netherlands. For my graduation thesis I verified a new finite element method called Sequentially Linear Analysis (SLA), which is a discretised approximation of the non-linear finite element analysis (NLFEA) method that circumvents convergence issues that are so common in NLFEA. Despite having moved away from structural engineering, my technical mindset contributes to my approach on projects, helping me to analyse and model data and effectively problem solve.
