About Brina Down

Brina is a registered Social Worker with a Masters degree in Social Work from Dalhousie University specializing in clinical counselling. She has over 10 years experience working in health care which has included, clinical counselling, crisis work, medical social work, and leadership coaching and development. In addition, Brina has taught as a sessional lecturer with the Faculty of Social Work through the University of Regina. Brina is passionate about trauma and stress recovery and has worked with individuals struggling with ongoing stress responses, depression, anxiety, health challenges, pre and post natal struggles, grief and addictions. Brina has expertise in several different counselling approaches including narrative therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, strength-based, solution focused and Somatic Experiencing. Brina is particularly interested in trauma, self-regulation and the use of self-compassion in the field of health and wellness. She proposes that counselling can support holistic health by facilitating balance and wellbeing.
