Background
About Britt Howard
Thank you for connecting! I am Britt. I founded Portland Garment Factory (PGF) in 2008 and have been wearing many hats here for the last 16 years. PGF specializes in creative design and fabrication. We work in the hospitality, entertainment, interior design, athletic, fashion, art, tech industries (and beyond)! We build everything from wearables to custom sculptures, pop ups, store take overs, seeding kits, event magic, full interior design build outs (curtains, cushions, aprons, etc.) We are a certified BCorp on a mission to upend the traditional factory model. In 2024 we acquired a mattress and home goods manufacturing company and re-named her Oregon Natural Fiber Mill. Together with our sister firm, Studio Howard, we bring a regenerative design and consulting lens to projects in the US and globally. Britt Howard is a visionary business owner who combines creative inquiry and a sense of humor to make the great work Portland Garment Factory is known for, both locally and internationally. With a background in anthropology, art, creative direction, design, and manufacturing, Howard and her team at PGF have been creating installations, spaces, and garments with impact for 16 years. She believes in running a business with intersectional feminist values and a commitment to environmental sustainability. She has also released a successful fashion line, raised two children, and runs 2 successful creative manufacturing companies and her own regenerative design consulting firm, Studio Howard. Howard is on the Board of Trustees at the Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, and serves on the Advisory Committee for the specialized CTE program at Grant High School. She has received awards from Portland Business Journal for both Small Business Innovation and Women of Influence, and she was most recently featured in the New York Times for her thoughts on small business and the political landscape in Oregon. She is a Libra, a dance enthusiast, and a Portland native.
