Background

About Britta Restemeyer

I am an Assistant Professor with a background in spatial planning and water and coastal management. Main research expertise in flood resilience and adaptive governance, using qualitative methods. Driven by understanding and improving the governance of climate adaptation, with the conviction that research in such an emerging field should be based on a strong collaboration between science and practice, bringing together relevant parties and creating a climate for learning and (inter-)active knowledge-building. Used to interdisciplinary and international work settings, as I have lived and worked in Germany and the Netherlands and participated in several cross-European research projects (e.g. ‘FRAMES – Flood Resilient Areas by Multi-Layered Safety’ (funded by EU INTERREG North Sea Region 5B), ‘Planning for flood resilient cities’ (PhD project funded by NWO), ‘CPA – Climate Proof Areas’ (funded by EU INTERREG North Sea Region 4B).
