Background
About Brock Tinnell
Hello, I’m Brock Tinnell, a practicum psychotherapist and graduate student at City University in downtown Calgary, completing my Master of Counselling degree. I am passionate about supporting individuals and those navigating diverse relational dynamics through life’s most pivotal challenges. As a practicum psychotherapist, I work with clients facing mental health, identity, and relational struggles, including feelings of loneliness, self-concept challenges, and the adjustments of late-in-life neurodivergent diagnoses such as ADHD. Many adults feel overwhelmed, misunderstood, or disconnected, and I want to create a safe, accepting space for them to explore their authentic selves and build pathways to well-being and fulfillment. For adults experiencing significant life transitions—such as relocation, career changes, or evolving relationship dynamics—I offer a grounded, compassionate approach that promotes clarity, resilience, and connection. I also support clients in diverse relational structures, including long-distance relationships, cohabitation adjustments, ethical non-monogamy, and intimacy exploration. My work blends empathy, insight, and practical strategies to help individuals reconnect with their core values, strengthen bonds, and develop tools for lasting emotional and mental wellness. I specialize in men’s mental health, helping men overcome anxiety and depression, shed societal pressures, and rediscover their sense of direction and purpose. My therapeutic approach integrates evidence-based modalities such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Existential Therapy, Mindfulness-Based Practices, and trauma-informed techniques. I also incorporate holistic practices, including mindfulness, attention to sleep, and overall wellness, to honour each client’s unique strengths and needs. Clients appreciate my warm, direct, and supportive style. I meet clients where they are, encouraging exploration and personal growth while providing tools to navigate complex emotions and life changes. Outside of therapy, I enjoy mindfulness, yoga, and intentional movement to stay grounded. I’m passionate about travel, technology, and lifelong learning, which deepen my understanding of the world and fuel my curiosity. Feel free to connect if you’d like to collaborate, share insights, or discuss ideas in psychology, mental health, or neurodiversity.
