About Brooke Boeding

Growing up in a technologically advancing world gives me an advantage in the engineering world. All throughout high school majority of my engineering classes were based on computer aided design, and I fell in love with it. Everyone knows the feeling of euphoria when a project finally comes together, and I love that feeling especially when I get a design project rounded out. Growing up with technology has helped me be efficient in my troubleshooting and is why I am such a quick learner when it come to computer design. Ever since these classes in high school I have always found myself among the few female students. My motivation to do better and excel in my classes and work is fueled by the feeling that I must prove myself. It is this devotion to my work that made it possible for me to graduate at the top of my class in high school and now make deans list in the past four years at the University of Cincinnati. Patience is a big part of my work ethic; I don’t give up on a project easily. I believe that I owe this to my hours spent out on the lake. Ever since I was a little girl, I have memories of fishing off the back deck of a bass boat. I remember being out on one of our family fishing trips when I caught my first big bass. I was jigging a tube off the bottom of the lake just about to give up when I felt that unforgettable tug on my line. I have built up my patience to be able to endure the weather and spend up to ten hours a day on a boat casting a line searching for the bigger fish just below the surface ready to bite just as you want to give up. The patience I have gained from this hobby is something that I apply to my school and work life daily. Work ethic is a major part of my character. I have built up my work ethic by working a part time job, playing varsity lacrosse, holding leadership positions in multiple clubs, and being an honor student in high school. Now I am taking high credit hour engineering courses, volunteering weekly, and working co-ops in the alternating semesters. I have never last minute called off work or flaked on a volunteer opportunity. This is something that I take great pride in. Although I have not had much time to be out on the lake recently, I am so excited to be continue working and getting my degree. Everyday I go to class and learn about computer modeling and mathematical problem solving I can’t help but get excited that this is what I am going to get to do for my career.
