About Brooke Hammer

Service to others and adventure is what drives me in my work. I am fluent in Spanish and have 15 years of experience working in hospitality, social services, and education. My career began when I was 15. I worked in restaurants throughout high school and my undergraduate studies in my home state, West Virginia. During my studies, I developed an interest in language and earned a BA in English. My passion for service eventually transferred into teaching English as a foreign language to children internationally (Hong Kong, Ecuador, and Spain), working for a NYC non-profit that helps South Bronx residents facing homelessness, and teaching in elementary schools in the South Bronx and East Harlem. Through these experiences, I recognized my love for connecting with others, teaching, creating, organizing, and improving myself. During my time working for the Peace Corps in Ecuador, I had the opportunity to participate in a mentor program with the US Embassy and organize professional development conferences for teachers. I am also proud of the work I’ve done to empower girls through workshops, camps, and projects. Nothing satisfies me more than being involved in initiatives that improve the lives of underserved people and celebrating diversity!
