Dermal Therapy student Laser tattoo removal consultant Tattoo culture advocate Skin science enthusiast Previously working in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, I have worked a vast variety of restaurants, pubs, clubs and cafes. Held positions in many roles within the industry including staff manager, bar manager and entertainment liaison. During these years I also worked many short term contracts through temping companies including roles with MS Readathon and Fintrack Mortgages as their Personal Loans Manager. I took only a short break to have my sons during which I studied creative writing, then I returned to hospitality on a casual basis and commenced my degree in Applied Health Science part time. I finally left the hospo life and started working in part of the field of my study, Laser Tattoo Removal. It's a return to my roots so to speak, as a teen I longed to be in the beauty industry, I started working at hairdressers begging for an apprenticeship and proving my self by learning fast and working hard. The stars did not align for my carrer at that time and the call of the hospo lifestyle and constant work drew me over to the dark side! Dermal Therapy and skin science come with an understanding within me I cant put into words, it just makes sense to me, the chemistry is so much fun to learn and designing a product as part of cosmetic chemistry gave me so many ideas for my own product one day. It also taught me so much more about using good quality products, less is more and routine is key. I get a thrill from learning how our body is made up at the cellular level and how literally everything effects our skin from sun exposure and stress, to diet and clothing choices and or course products we use. I adore tattoo culture, love getting inked and seeing the colourful bodies of my clients and people walking around day to day. I am an advocate for a change in the conversation and social stigma for tattoos, long gone are the times where only sailors, criminals, thugs and women of debauchery bore tattoos. Ink is art, it's self expression and is very personal to those who wear tattoos. I do have 1 rule with tattoos, never get the name of someone you did not make tattooed on your body, if you do look me up and we will discuss your removal plan;)
