About Brooke Schmidt

I am a hardworking team-player with excellent communication and leadership skills. I am a quick-learner, innovative, and a problem solver. I am passionate about helping others and providing guidance. I also have high organizational skills, balancing school while gaining experience in the field. I am currently a fourth year student at the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, majoring in Social Work, while also pursing a minor in Counseling. As apart of my degree, I currently work as a Residential Support Specialist Intern at Meta House. Through this role I am gaining hands-on experience in the field of substance abuse recovery. I work directly with clients, providing them support and guidance through their recovery journey. I also currently work as a Peer Mentor Program Assistant at the Student Success Center here at UWM. Through this role I am able to support a roster of first year students throughout their experience on campus. While doing this, I also oversee a team of other Peer Mentors. Working alongside this team in a coaching capacity, I strive to support the growth of exceptional role-models to positively impact our first-year student community. Further, I assist by working towards continuous improvement to the program, helping our team consistently reach more students than years prior.
