About Brooke Thomas

Background I received a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology back in 2005 from Illinois State University. After graduating, I began to work various jobs, but the one that touched my heart the most was subbing and working with kids. Within six months of graduating, I moved down to Florida for a new beginning. I began teaching in August of 2006 after I went through an accelerated teaching certification program through Florida Southwestern State College. I became certified as General Education in grades kindergarten through sixth. A year later, I received my Special Education certificate for grades kindergarten through twelfth grade. I began teaching special education with students being included in general education classes. I then taught a self-contained classroom. After that year, I decided it wasn't for me and I began to teach fourth grade and continued for five more years. Then I taught a technology special to our entire school in order for children to gain the proper Microsoft skills needed for school. And for the past two years, I have been a behavior specialist at my current school. It wasn't my original plan, but I must say I do quite enjoy it most of the days. Hobbies: In my spare time, I enjoy relaxing at the beach, reading books, shopping, going to movies, relaxing at home, playing with my dog, and just being around friends and family.
