About Brooks Buddy

I am passionate about Recreation Therapy and Life Enrichment in Long Term Care and Assisted Living. Recreation Therapy and Life Enrichment play a very important role in helping older adults adapt to the change of moving from their home to living in environments where higher levels of care are needed. They often experience a deep sense of loss and independence. When elders are offered the much needed support during this life changing transition they can adapt and continue to live high quality lives. Recreation Therapists and Life Enrichment Coordinators play a major role in helping residents find connection, purpose, community and continued leisure involvement in the latter stages of life. I love working with older adults in long term care, and I have a wide variety of activity programs I help to plan and implement every month. I particularly enjoy leading exercise groups (Gentle Chair Fitness/ Stretching/Chair Yoga/Scarf Dancing/Laughter Yoga/Lifelong learning/moving to music), outings, cooking groups, life stories and reminiscing groups, and anything that involves helping older adults get outside and experience nature! In addition to calendar planning, I help with putting together community newsletters and planning special community events. In my current role, I primarily document in Excel, Word and MatrixCare.
