About Brooks Platt

My previous work experience is mainly 2 years of preparing food & environmental samples and innoculating them in the correct growth media for microbiological testing for various bacteria and fungi that may or not be pathogenic. I have a strong interest for anything microbiology related especially if its nonpathogenic, and I have started a microbiology lab at home as a hobby where I spend most my money and time practicing bacteria culturing, growth medium preparation, autoclave sterilization, slide preparation, microscope operation, bacteria/fungi and biofilm isolation, innoculation streaks, gram and other staining, pipetting, microbiology research methods, bioinformatics, molecular biology. I usually come up with a way to improve my microbiology skills in the form of a microbiology project and use that to work toward coming up with a research worthy project one day. I am so far doing alot with streptomyces, and recently did a streptomycin extraction with it. I also really enjoy looking at pond samples under the microscope and going microbe hunting for those samples. before that I did volunteer logo design, video editing, videography, photography, and broadcasting, along with a Mars Rover Stemfest Competition. I did do an internship this summer at a computer repair place called Future Concepts where I took apart and repaired many computers and laptops, as well as troubleshooting software issues on computers; I even got to setup wired door controllers and security cameras by running CAT6 cables through an attic and terminating both female and male ends on them and testing those ends through a cable tester and PoE switch connected directly to a laptop with a static IP assigned to it to access and edit network settings on those cameras and door controllers. I have a decent amount of 3D Printing Experience and have an Ender 3 and Bambulabs Carbon X1 3D Printer at home that I have ran hundreds of 3D prints on. I used to want to do engineering design and as a result I have gained Autodesk Certified User certifications on Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor. I used to want to do digital design and a result I have gained experience with almost the entire Adobe Suite, and on designing various ads, graphics, and logos. I used to want to do Photography and Video Editing and Videography, so I have accumulated a ton of experience with video editing, operating a camera, manual camera settings, broadcasting, screen recording and etc. After doing all of this my soft skills mainly make me a very curious, persistent, detail-oriented, and logical person.
