Background
About Bruce Alter
Bruce was born and raised in Montgomery, Alabama where he was active in sports, particularly baseball and football, from an early age. After completion of high school, he began his collegiate baseball career at Auburn University at Montgomery. He then transferred to Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia to finish his final season. Prior to graduating with a degree in Exercise Science, he signed a professional baseball contract with an organization outside of Chicago, Illinois. After stepping away from the game, Bruce pursued his desire to help others with a Doctoral Degree in Physical Therapy from Belmont University in Nashville, Tennessee. He completed multiple rotations all over the country, where he learned to work with different people in a variety of settings. In his final year, he was awarded the Results Orthopedic Clinical Excellence Award for outpatient orthopedics as well as the Belmont University Academic Excellence Award. After graduating in August 2018, Bruce moved to Maryland and married his wife, Kaitlin, who was a professional ballerina for the Ballet Theatre of Maryland. His areas of interest include manual therapy, geriatrics, sports injury rehabilitation and dance medicine. He received his certification in Level One Dry Needling from The Institute of Advanced Musculoskeletal Treatment in 2017. Since beginning his career, he has achieved further certifications in Advanced Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization, Manual Therapy of the Nervous system, and Pelvic Health 1. Additionally, he presented on FAI/Labral Pathology as part of an OP Ortho Journal Club. He plans to become Board Certified in Outpatient Orthopedic Physical Therapy and looks forward to learning more about leadership pathways within Physical Therapy Central. Bruce moved to Oklahoma City with his wife, Kaitlin, and their golden retriever, Clyde in 2021. In July of 2022 they welcomed to the world their baby girl. Outside of the clinic and the ballet, they enjoy training Clyde with the hopes of completing his Therapy Dog Training and Certification. They are looking forward to experiencing and learning more about the history and culture of Oklahoma and are always open to restaurant recommendations. Bruce is thrilled to serve Oklahoma City and the surrounding communities as a clinic director of Midwest City, OK. He sees his work as a way to positively impact his patient’s quality of life, while building lasting relationships through compassionate care.
