About Bruce Blackwell

Bruce A. Blackwell Bruce Blackwell has over 36 years of experience as a Professional forester and biologist, much of which has been related to fire and forest ecology, silviculture, vegetation management, and forest practice audits and reviews. He is a specialist in forest fire science and has completed numerous projects on this subject, including a fire risk assessment for British Columbia and numerous fire management plans for both the public and private sectors. Bruce assisted the Firestorm 2003 Review Team in developing recommendations on forest management and policy. He has extensive experience assessing forest fire hazards and risks and has been on the leading edge of developing a Wildfire Threat Assessment in British Columbia. Bruce has applied his expertise in developing FireSmart Communities and subdivisions and contributed to creating a Municipal Wildfire Protection Strategy for Jasper. Bruce's silviculture experience includes preparing silviculture prescriptions and stand management prescriptions and planning, implementing, and monitoring fertilization programs. He has extensive experience in assessing and auditing soil disturbance and has developed and delivered a comprehensive training package on the subject to coastal and interior clients. He has applied biogeoclimatic ecosystem classification to ecosystem description and classification in several studies on forest productivity and succession.
