About Bruce Colman

Bruce is a qualified planner with senior expertise in project management and team leadership. Over the last twenty years his work has focussed on the growth of Western Sydney. Bruce is a technical specialist in statutory and strategic planning, master planning, environmental impact assessment and design development. Bruce has project managed and delivered some of the largest greenfield rezonings and major infrastructure projects in New South Wales. These roles have required team leadership, budget control, public presentations, probity controls, diplomacy, influence and political exposure. He has extensive experience in the preparation of planning policies and statutory plans, heritage, landscape and tourism planning and community consultation. In his role within the Department of Planning, Bruce has successfully delivered four Growth Centre Precincts over the last six years. This has resulted in the rezoning of residential lots. Bruce has taken the lead in delivering Oran Park, Turner Road, Marsden Park Industrial and Schofields Precincts for the Department of Planning and has been the key point of contact for the community, the Council and the full range of State agencies. This role has included leading and presenting information to the community and working with major developers. Bruce’s current project is the design and delivery of the Broader Western Sydney Employment Area Structure Plan. This is leading to the creation of the largest employment area in NSW, securing an additional hectares of employment lands. Bruce is also responsible for the place management of the existing hectares of the Western Sydney Employment Area. This involves the co-ordination of major infrastructure elements and liaison with major developers. Prior to joining the Department of Planning, Bruce was the Team Leader of Parson Brickerhoff’s Urban Planning Team in Sydney, responsible for overall resourcing and quality control of planning projects.
