I work on Anti-corruption / Anti-Extortion compliance, advice, training. based on strategies and techniques to successfully, ethically and safely navigate government functionary extortion, bribery and other coercive situations. ADMISSIONS: Alaska, USA (1976, ret 1991). Ohio, USA (1985-) EXPERIENCE: FCPA and Anti-corruption Compliance, since 1989 in Latin America. Public presentations USA, South America Europe and Asia since 1995, on how to use secondary effects of foreign anti-bribery laws to successfully, ethically and safely deal with local extortion, coercion and related unfair competition situations. Training clients, attorneys, paralegals, law students, accountants, sales and business people,and others since 2004 on the use of negotiation Theory and Practice and Positive Deviance in Extortion, Coerción and Bribery situations. Teaching these subjects at the International Anti-Corruption Academy in Austria and Argentina, at universities in USA and Ecuador, at the ABA, INTA and other associations; World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank; and American Conference Institute. Former ABA Anti-corruption Committee Co-chairperson, and member since 1995. Lecturer on Corruption Issues in Arbitration Proceedings, Quito 2013. Co-founder and President of the Center for the Study of Bribery, Extortion and Coercion Situations (CESSEC) under the auspices of the Universidad de San Francisco de Quito. First Chairperson of the International Chamber of Commerce Commission on Integrity and Anti-corruption (2018 - 2020). Re-creator of the ABA Lawyers Abroad Committee, and of the Committee's Program that won ABA awards in two years for Best Community Outreach Projects. Intellectual Property: Manage law firm IP Departments since 1989. Leading our IP Team to register the first sound mark in South America; the first Ecuadorian Denomination of Origin Recognition; and the world's first tactile trademark. Former Chair of ABA International Section IP Committee, and U.S. Lawyers Abroad Committee Chair. INTA Law Firm Committee.
