Empiricism cannot be bought at any price. One who views a job beneath their dignity has likely mistaken their true value. There is no truth in the statement,"you are overqualified"​. Either one is, or they are not. I am relieved that recruiters find me overqualified. With white hair that would apply probably for any position. No one chooses to employ a person qualified to supervise them. Formal college education however is part of the apprenticeship. It would be expected to assist in many ways but weighs lightly in comparison to empirical knowledge in any (field) of study. Education continues long after the classroom with proficiency in execution. Wallpaper continuously requires further empiricism to become consummate. Construction follows a critical path that has no choice for delay or error. Decision that occurs intrinsically without proper knowledge is certain to reverberate with impact. Knowledge is the only proven method for properly managing every project. Beyond any doubt a sound decision that is made by a stressed newcomer should be with the tutelage of experience. Proper skillsets alleviate much stress and provides sound decisions. Positive Leadership is a function of empirical knowledge achieved with longevity! Profit should be the motivation for any responsible company and the best avenue for that is zero defects through critical foresight and effective management. A General is faced with a new field of exercise every day. Experience gives him the insight to negotiate every obstacle accurately at the least expense. Any Lieutenant/Superintendent will never replace even a mediocre General/PMGS. Everyone will espouse their proficiency and many times they might be correct. However been there done it, is certain.
