My name is Bruce Sharp and I am a project manager specializing in Learning and Development and IT. The challenge of delivering a project within scope is exciting and I strive to make it a positive experience for everyone. With over eight years’ experience I have gained a reputation for innovation, team building, mentoring and helping others to excel. Having recently completed the required coursework for the PMP, Agile Certified Practitioner and Networking Essentials I will shortly be taking the exams and obtain these certifications allowing me to bring additional skills and knowledge to my projects.My most recent experience is in the L&D field buy I also have a background in IT having worked in a solutions center environment for a number of years and functioned as a team lead/trainer for such products as Lotus Notes, Blackberry, Sametime, MS Project, and other desktop products. While in this role I often worked on implementation projects and developed training material. I believe that being a successful manager is to lead by both example and delegation. Maintaining a calm appearance and being proactive is necessary to building teams that are positioned to succeed. It is up to the leader to clearly define the goals of both the company and project thus providing the necessary direction for success. Working closely with leadership, project stakeholders and my team ensures that all expectations and final outcomes are clearly understood and achievable with minimal stress on resources and budget. Areas that I excel in include: Virtual team management Classroom and conference deliveries Relationship building via timely and accurate communications Project and Event ManagementI have spent the last few years finishing my degree and updating my personal skills in order to stay relevant in this rapidly changing environment. Being on the planning committee for the Multiple Sclerosis Society is a very rewarding experience that allows me to give back to the community, particularly those that are less fortunate and suffering with such a terrible disease. Working with such strong and driven people has taught me to be passionate in what I do and to not give up when things aren’t going as planned. They have showed me that you can’t plan for everything but if you are flexible you can easily handle the unexpected and continue moving forward.
