About Bruce Solomon

I am a university level educator with 10 years interdisciplinary experience, my background being in Foundation Studies and Criminology. Over the last 10 years I have taught academic study skills at the University of Manchester and two years ago joined the teaching staff at Arden University as an Associate Lecturer in the Institute of Foundation Studies (IFS). I am also a member of the School of Criminal Justice at Arden, where I teach Criminology, and have similar roles at the University of Law and the University of Chester. Having taught Foundation Studies for much of my career, I am especially comfortable with students from different cultural and language backgrounds. My work teaching pre-sessional students at the University of Manchester, coupled with a Master’s degree in TESOL and Educational Technology (University of Manchester, 2015) enables me to work deftly and empathetically with my students at Arden: the university’s student body typically being made up of less privileged learners returning to education and in need of extra support. I have further degrees in Law (LLB, University College London) and Criminology (M.Phil, University of Cambridge) as well as a degree in performing arts (BA, University of Salford) all of which inform my pedagogy. Prior to my teaching career, I founded a successful manufacturing business in the newly open Czech Republic (post-Velvet Revolution). Employing 15 people, I was ultimately responsible for all strategic and operational aspects of the enterprise: management, finance, marketing, design etc.
