About Bruce Sprague

As a Senior Partner at BDO Canada, I lead the firm’s market strategy and client service delivery across Western Canada. I am also responsible for the Tax Service Line in the region, with a mandate to grow our capabilities, strengthen client relationships, and develop high-performing teams that deliver consistent, value-driven results. With over 25 years of experience in professional services, I advise public and private sector clients across a range of industries, with a focus on mining, technology, and mid-market enterprises. Prior to joining BDO, I served as the National Mining Industry Leader for EY Canada, where I worked closely with some of the country’s largest mining companies on strategic tax, regulatory, and operational matters. My involvement in the sector has included positions with the Mining Association of Canada and the Advisory Council for the UBC Keevil Institute of Mining. I continue to support industry leaders through strategic advisory work, particularly in areas where governance, analytics, and emerging technologies—such as AI—intersect with traditional business models. Outside of my professional responsibilities, I remain actively engaged in community and board service. I have served on the boards of the Greater Vancouver Board of Trade, the Vancouver Aquarium, and currently sit on the governance committee of the Kelowna General Hospital Foundation. I am also involved in youth hockey scouting and talent evaluation in British Columbia for the WHL’s Calgary Hitmen. I hold several professional designations, including FCPA, FCA, CPA (Illinois), CA, CFP, and ICD.D. My focus is on providing sound leadership, supporting effective governance, and helping clients and communities navigate complexity with confidence and integrity.
