About Brumby McLeod

As an associate professor within the Department of Hospitality & Tourism Management in the School of Business at the College of Charleston, my teaching focuses on commercial accommodation and revenue management. I also lead and teach a summer program known as Destination Iceland: an international travel experience and course on destination management held during Maymester. In Winter 2016, I added an Adventure Tourism course to Banff National Park. Additional teaching assignments include the introductory course to hospitality and tourism and an elective in operations analysis. My research focuses almost exclusively in the area of tourism and commercial accommodation as they relate to topics such as pricing, distribution, supply and demand. Short-term rentals/vacation rentals are a major component of my research. I am the co-founder of the Vacation Rental Report (VRR), an STR like product that measures vacation rental performance in the Charleston, SC beach community market on a monthly basis. I also serve as the Co-Director of the Schottland Scholars, a leadership development program for 10 select School of Business senior students at the College. On the graduate side, I oversee the focus area of revenue management for our one-year, full-time MBA program. On the association front, I am currently President of the HSMAI South Carolina chapter; Secretary on the SC Vacation Rental Managers Association (SC VRMA); and I am an active board member on the South Carolina Restaurant and Lodging Association (SCRLA).
