About Bruno Lacey

I am an entrepreneur & educator with 15 years experience of leadership, sales, community building & training - all in the service of creating a more just and sustainable world. From August 2025, I manage EU Funding for Unicorn Factory Lisboa, building an innovation & enterprise ecosystem by securing multi-year >€1m funds with pan-EU consortia. I scout the funding landscape, build & lead consortia, write proposals and coordinate secured projects with partners across industry, academia, govt. & research. In 2025, I supported Roots of Impact to deliver their first training program in Impact Linked Finance, empowering finance professionals to deploy innovative blended finance tools. In 2024, I delivered two projects for Impact Hub Global- co-led a team evaluating the impact of Netflix' Inclusion & Diversity program, analysing over 150+ projects from around the world- designed & delivered workshops and mentoring on pitching, financial management & solution validation to 50 circular startups on the EU-funded SOTECIN program. I was also a finance mentor on EIT's Empowering Women in Agrifood programme, delivered in Portugal by Drive Impact. In 2022-23 I co-led the Future of Conservation NGOs Innovation Challenge for Impact Hub, with our partners at Unearthodox. We provided a range of mentoring and incubation to disruptive startups in the Conservation sector. I am a co-founder and was Finance Director of Upfarming Upfarming develops new approaches to urban agriculture as part of the food revolution necessary to sustainably provide a healthy diet for our growing populations. It was the natural next step for me after almost a decade of creating & maintaining urban green spaces in London. In 2014 I founded Urban Growth which won a King's Award for Sustainable Development in 2024. We worked with businesses & government to nurture healthy green communities. in 2019, I was the Communications and Community Manager at Impact Hub Lisbon. During the pandemic I designed and ran three cohorts of a short course I called the Social Entrepreneurs Toolkit, introducing 30 aspiring founders to tools such as the Theory of Change and Business Model Canvas, and supporting the creative development of their business dreams. I am a qualified Action Learning Facilitator, leading small groups for personal and professional development. I am also a co-founder of Climate Change the Game, a board game to amuse, inspire & educate humans about the biggest challenge they face since sabre-tooth tigers.
