About Bryan Ashworth

I am a very experienced OHS professional who has worked in one of the largest agribusinesses in Australia, as well as in the transport and manufacturing industries, ensuring that cultural change took place in each workforce to make safety a priority. As a leader I believe in engaging with key stakeholders to make safety an integral part of everyone's job, ensuring that employees, who are a company’s most valuable resource, are safe. My vision is to instil in each employee a belief and philosophy that a safe work environment is crucial to reducing personal injury and enabling safety improvements across the workplace to benefit all within the organisation. I believe in mentoring and leading by example to build an effective team, capable of driving change and new safety initiatives enabling the organisation to become a market leader in safety. I have demonstrated a capacity to not only effectively manage an WHS team and manage the full range of Workplace Health & Safety functions but to manage workers compensation including premium reporting. Responsible for reporting Workcover premiums for Costa Group (26 policies) and managing WorkCover over six states to drive down costs and to obtain the best outcome for all involved. I have a wide range of experience in strategic planning, risk management of equipment (including robotics), manual handling, dangerous goods, chemicals, traffic management, slips, trips and falls. Particular skills and interests are in the areas of ergonomics, developing and delivering training, developing new processes, policies and systems, cultural change, chain of responsibility and mental health. Using these skills, I have the ability to provide advice, vision, coaching, counselling and guidance for senior management, WHS teams, line management, staff and the organisation in general.
