About Bryan Jackson

I am a writer, director, and educator based in Los Angeles. My films take a unique approach to queer narrative storytelling and have screened extensively at festivals around the world. I have produced films and video installations featured at the Venice Biennale and premiered at LACMA and MoMA: Doc Fortnight. I'm currently in development on a slate of feature and limited series projects.I co-founded the UC Irvine Digital Filmmaking program. The DigiFilm program mixed traditional film school production training with creative, experimental approaches to storytelling. The program was majority BIPOC, Women and LGBTQ+ students. I developed and lead a range of directing and production courses, and supervised advanced projects. I led a three-quarter studio course that explored design, narrative and interactivity, producing collaborative web series projects and Pintour, an award-winning series of immersive audio walks with giant map pins as guide posts. I established the International Documentary Projects program that sent student filmmakers on four-week shoots to social justice, environmental action, and community empowerment programs in Nepal, Paraguay and South Africa.
