About Bryan Kidd

Learning is the essential contemporary skill. We live in a complex, dynamic and uncertain world. Survival and success require situational awareness and adaptive response. I help people develop their ability to find 'The Sweet Spot', where elegant solutions meet complicated contexts. Much of my work has involved re-inventing learning in Higher Education using practical, active learning approaches that help students develop highly effective learning and collaboration skills. To do this, I use a series of convergent ideas to design innovative inductive learning processes. These ideas include problem based learning, flipped learning, project based learning, productive struggle, Brain Based Learning, Constructive Alignment, Understanding by Design, and self-regulated learning. Put together these create a 'Learning Conversation' approach, where learning occurs through a series of problems and opportunities that require motivation and collaboration, and create coordinated effort.
