When an airplane stalls it takes a tremendous amount of experience to instinctively push the nose forward instead of pulling back on the yoke…and sealing your fate.and those with you. Turning around a failing business is very similar to when an airplane has entered a stall; the warning siren is screaming and the airframe is shaking violently. You need to take action. Now. Sales have dropped dramatically, bankers demand daily cash updates, employees are quitting, customers have stopped paying invoices, moral is terrible, and the prior CEO…pulled back the yoke. Hard. I am a passionate leader and numerous times now, I've pulled companies out of a stall and put them back on course. Real time, instinctive decisions along with a clear strategic path forward - sharp focus on cash flow - mentoring - recruiting great people - rebuilding broken relationships with customers and suppliers - what to do and how to do it comes naturally to me. I'm a CEO that believes in people and invests in their personal success. I inspire. We’ll transition from just another job and lagging results to record setting performances whether it be profitability, quality, lead times, and so on. I've cooked steaks for the employees to say thank you for breaking another record. Many times. I believe in taking market share from the inside because our company is absolutely incredible. I don't buy market share; we earn it. Each morning I launch my day with Robin Sharma's "5 AM Club" and work hard to be in the 5% versus the 95% of life. If you know this routine, we both believe an espresso at 4:45 am is worth its weight in gold. I laugh easily, laugh even harder at myself, and believe life is way too short not to enjoy it. I exercise daily and Ironman-Cozumel 2023 will be my 4th. That being said, I have never been able to walk away from a chocolate cake or chocolate chip cookie. And seconds. I believe work-life balance makes for a very positive, happy employee. Work does go home and home does come to work; it's human nature. I've also worked with employees to balance their checkbooks so the bill collectors stop calling work and they can buy groceries for the family. As leaders, we can do more for our people. I've created-acquired-carved out-closed-relocated-and sold companies. The hardest journey was the company that I couldn't save regardless of my efforts. I learned airplanes built with glue will eventually crash regardless of how many rivets I put in place while in the air. I look forward to my next flight.safe, proficient, successful. Wings level.
