About Bryan Rietman

There are people who see beauty or decoration as the highest form of art. and there are people who don’t. For me, it's the last opinion that matters most. My paintings are created for the main purpose of study. What makes an apple an apple, or how much should I suggest in order to experience a space? The quest that I make shows in my work. While painting, I try to pay an ode to paint, color and composition. A painting, in my opinion, does not have to have a decorative value, beauty is not the purpose but only a byproduct in this search. The main source from which I well is that of reality, so my subjects are always figurative in the base."I am looking to create a world that goes beyond reality alone, I want reality plus +" On the 13th of May 2012, I graduated from the Academy of Classical art in Groningen (the Netherlands) where I have attended lessons by Jan van Loon, Asaph ben Menahem, Matthijs Röling, Henk Helmantel, Flip Gaasendam, Rein Pol, Herman van Hoogdalem, Jan van der Kooi, Juane Xue and Peter Durieux. In 2013 I joined Pulchri Studio, an artist's society established in The Hague and since 2014 I have been teaching classical painting techniques at Oyfo in Hengelo.
