About Bryan Sells

Bryan L. Sells is an experienced civil rights lawyer specializing in voting rights, election law, and redistricting. Bryan represents individual voters, civil rights organizations, political parties, and candidates in complex voting rights litigation under the U.S. Constitution, the Voting Rights Act, the National Voter Registration Act, and the Help America Vote Act. He also provides legal advice and counseling to select local governments on redistricting issues and compliance with federal election laws. Before opening his own firm in 2016, Sells served as a Special Litigation Counsel in the Voting Section of the Civil Rights Division of the United States Department of Justice in Washington, D.C, from 2010 to 2015. He represented the United States in several notable cases involving statewide redistricting and voter identification laws. Sells was previously a Senior Staff Attorney in the Voting Rights Project of the American Civil Liberties Union in Atlanta, Georgia, where he represented a diverse array of clients in voting rights and ballot access matters for more than 10 years. Bryan began his legal career as a law clerk to the Honorable Myron H. Thompson in Montgomery, Alabama. He has degrees from Harvard University and Columbia Law School. Bryan is a member of the State Bar of Georgia. He is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia and the Georgia Supreme Court. He is also admitted to practice in the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Fourth, Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Circuits.
