About Bryce Deuty

Bryce Deuty is a Master of Science in Bioinformatics student at the College of Computing and Informatics, University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Born in Arlington, Virginia, Bryce spent most of his childhood in Greenville, South Carolina. He has experience in wet lab techniques, programming languages and bioinformatic software. Currently a Graduate Research Assistant, Bryce's most recent experience is as an SR & D Intern with Reynolds Tobacco. Bryce is a dedicated researcher with experience in molecular biology, bioinformatics, and metagenomic data analysis. At R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Company, he optimized a metagenomic data analysis pipeline and developed instructional resources for future use. This academic research spans gene variation analysis in sorghum, DNA test development for peach traits, and drought tolerance studies in olive trees, with findings presented at conferences such as ASHS 2022. Proficient in PCR, NextGen Sequencing and bioinformatic tools, Bryce is passionate about advancing agricultural and genomic research. After completing his Master's degree in May 2025, he plans to enter the biotechnology career field and return to school for a PHD program within the next few years.
