About Bryn Sharp

I am a Boulder, CO native and recently graduated top of my class from the University of Arizona Honors College with a Bachelor of Arts in Honors in Spanish (Hispanic Literature Emphasis) and Latin American Studies, with a minor in Portuguese (4.0 GPA). I am currently a Spanish Subject Expert Teacher at BASIS Phoenix. Previously, I was the school's Athletics Director and JV/Varsity Volleyball Head Coach. From January-July of 2022 I was a Dean of Students at BASIS Phoenix. Recently, I completed a Fulbright ETA grant in Rivera, Uruguay (July 2021-January 2022), where I worked as an EFL (English as a foreign language) teacher and teaching assistant at various institutions, taught various classes in Spanish and Portuguese, and organized several sports-related community engagement events/programs. Simultaneously I conducted preliminary research related to foreign language education. My original 2020 program was postponed due to COVID-19. During the 2020 academic school year, I worked as a Spanish Subject Expert Teacher and Assistant Varsity Volleyball Coach at BASIS Phoenix, Arizona. In 2017 I studied abroad in Viña del Mar, Chile at the University Adolfo Ibáñez, where I was a member of the University's women's soccer team, worked as a photographer with Namuntu Aventura, a local adventure tourism agency, and volunteered with Valpo Surf Project. From 2018-2019 I was a Global Ambassador for the University of Arizona and worked closely with International Student Services to endorse intercultural exchange and travel abroad. I was also an Honors College PATH mentor, guiding incoming Honors College freshmen in their transition into college. Additionally, I was an intern for Spanish classes (pre-k and elementary) for the International School of Tucson. In 2019 achieved my TEFL certification and enrolled in a teacher's practicum at the University of Arizona's Center for English as a Second Language. From October 2018 to December 2019 I was a citizenship (naturalization) class instructor and ELAA teacher's assistant for Pima Community College. From January 2019 to February 2020 I was a staff member at Rocks and Ropes climbing gym, and was a summer camp instructor for the gym during the summer of 2019. I am a passionate lover of the outdoors, and spend my free time traveling and exploring nature through rock climbing, canyoneering, mountaineering, hiking, and backpacking. I am a NOLS Wilderness First Responder (2018) and an independent photographer striving to show the world in its true colors and to inspire social and environmental stewardship.
