About Burt Walker

I am an honest, trustworthy individual who excelled during my career with the Richmond Police Department, retiring as a Detective Sergeant, after 30 years of service. My career enabled me to gain knowledge and experience in police administration, customer service, personnel investigations, patrol techniques, traffic accident investigation and the investigation of criminal offenses involving property crimes, vice, narcotics, violent crime and homicide. Throughout my career, I gained experience in the private security industry working off duty. Over a ten year period I supervised law enforcement and security functions for numerous major events in the downtown area. Some of these events were attended by as much as twenty thousand individuals. In my final year with the Richmond Police I was selected and the Employee of the Year. After retiring from the Richmond Police Department, I was employed by the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services as an Investigator in the Regulatory Affairs Unit. Over the next 11 years, I served in various capacities in the Enforcement Section. I gained exceptional knowledge in the Regulatory Process and the Regulations governing Private Security Services, Special Conservators of the Peace, Bail Bondsman and Bail Enforcement Agents. I conducted training for Compliance Agents and participated in writing regulations and legislation. I have obtained by certification as a Compliance Agent and registration as an unarmed security officer. My certification as an instructor is pending.
