About Byram Simpson

I am who you want around in a crisis. I am level headed, intuitive, skillful, and compassionate. I am a social service and mental health professional professional with 15 years of experience in deescalation, motivational interviewing, group facilitation and conducting trainings on social justice and mental health topics. I am particularly interested in the experiences and priorities of LGBTQIA and other oppressed peoples. I have worked in a variety of settings including mental health, direct social service, and training other direct service providers. I am a skilled public speaker with the ability to make complex and uncomfortable discussions accessible with humor, compassion, and empathy. I believe that we are on the brink of necessary social change, and I am passionate about supporting this and the next generation in realizing this change.
