About Byron Boggi

Experienced molecular biologist and multiomic specialist. Following the completion of my BSc. in Forensic Biology, I spent my scientific career as a forensic DNA analyst. I later pursued my MSc. in Molecular Medicine whilst working in personal genomics to fund my studies. I soon followed up with a PhD in Molecular Biology with my doctoral research focussed on the multiomic analyses mummified soft tissue from Greco-Roman Egypt and Early Christian Nubia. Specifically, I characterised the molecular preservation of various tissue using co-extracted DNA, protein, lipids and polar metabolites via an integrated multiomic workflow. Subsequently, I studied the recovered ancient biomolecules for the purpose of kinship and ancestry inference (ancient DNA) and molecular pathology via metagenomic/ metaproteomic screening for the identification of infectious disease pathogens in addition to biomarker screening via genomic variant, proteomic and metabolic analyses. I continued this work through my postdoctoral research, with a focus on streamlining the wet and dry laboratory workflows and pipelines.More recently, I am working as a Knowledge Transfer Partnership Associate, funded my Innovate UK, developing rapid and high-throughput SNP genotyping assays validated and accredited for use in forensic DNA analyses for the purpose of human identification and kinship analyses.
