About Caio Costa

Early in my journey, an encounter with Kurumin Linux piqued my curiosity in the tech realm. While my roots began with exploring GNU/Linux and programming, my career has since evolved, intertwining finance with software development. This blend of finance and technology was galvanized during my time at JGP Asset Management. In 2015, I started studying electrical engineering at UFRN because in that course I was able to explore my interests in electronics, computers, programming and mathematics. While studying there I worked on some applications like error correction using Reed-Solomon codes and the energy efficiency of cyclostationary spectrum sensing algorithms. The majority of the projects I did at UFRN were in C or C++. Two years later in 2017 I started a double-degree program at CentraleSupélec (ingénieur diplômé de l'école supérieure d'électricité), there I worked on some interesting projects like a MIPS microprocessor using VHDL and a Mars Rover V2V and V2I communications project using Python and Matlab. During my second year at CentraleSupélec I did a software engineering internship (2019 Jun-Dec) at Schlumberger in the Montpellier Technology Center. I joined the Techlog development team and my mission was to develop a GDPR compliant system to gather feedback and usage data from Techlog. There I perfected my skills on C++, Go, GCP, MongoDB and Kubernetes, and also my teamwork and collaborative software development skills since the Techlog team size was a lot bigger compared to my previous project teams at CentraleSupélec and UFRN. Still during my studies at CentraleSupélec, in some class about stochastic signal processing (one of my favorite courses) a teacher was talking about autoregressive moving average models and that one could try to use those models for trading strategies, and that's how I first got interested in the capital markets. Some time later back at UFRN in 2020 I started an Equity Research internship at JGP Asset Management. In October 2021 my internship turned into a full-time role so now mostly I use my Python, AWS and other skills that I developed along the years to help my teammates at JGP to work on fundamental analysis and alternative data sets.
