About Cait Stout

I spent my collegiate career studying at Ball State University. I spent 5 undergraduate years here, first studying Music Education before switching to Deaf Education. After switching my major, I also added on a number of minors, including:(1) Deaf Studies,(2) American Sign Language, and (3) Interpersonal Relations. During this time, I also participated in a number of organizations both on and off the BSU campus. On campus, I served as a member of three and on the executive board of two organizations. I was a member of Student Council for Exceptional Children, ASL Club, and The Flute Guide. I held positions on the executive boards of the ASL Club (Social Media Advisor) and The Flute Guide (Head of Committees). Off campus, I was a volunteer at an organization called Beyond! I Can. Here, I volunteered for a year helping the adult artisans complete their projects and help set up for craft fairs. I also volunteered at The Indiana School for the Deaf while I did my practicum there. Here, I tutored students at the tutoring center, sold tickets to sporting events, worked at the concession stands, supervised at school functions (dances, after school activities, etc.), and helped run a cooking class for students in the middle school. I completed by student teaching in the Spring 2021 semester. I moved to Houston, Texas to complete this portion of my education, where my placement was split between working with the Special Education department and the Deaf Education department of an elementary school. I graduated in May 2021 with a Bachelors of Arts in Deaf Education, and previously listed minors.
