About Caitlin Bennett

Passionate social researcher, with proficiency in both qualitative and quantitative methodologies. I have current experience in the public and not-for-profit sectors, and am interested in contributing to meaningful research that informs practical and high-quality policy outcomes, especially within criminal justice, and mental health and suicide prevention. My passion for juvenile justice drove my desire to complete an Honours thesis utilising qualitative research methods, to investigate the meaning and practice of 'community' in Justice Reinvestment. Since then, I have been engaged by Federal Government agencies to drive and deliver robust research and analysis, that guides and informs policy recommendations to reduce and prevent suicide amongst Australian Defence Force members and veterans. I have experience in academia, in the field of justice health, and in the non-for-profit sector, in the field of out-of-home-care. In my next role, I am looking forward to utilising my experience in suicide and mental health research to create change within the criminal justice system, and/or for disadvantaged youth.In my spare time I play soccer at a competitive level, and sew for charity. I have experience working with children; I am a keen learner; and enjoy working in a team environment.
