Background
About Caitlin Brennan
Upon Chairwoman Lacey Hull's appointment to Chair of the Human Services Committee, she offered me the opportunity to serve as committee clerk. Feeling rooted and confident in the previous six months with her as her Legislative Aide, I was eager to get to work in this new role. I worked to contribute to legislative initiatives, supported legislative processes, public affairs, and organizational work, showcasing a strong commitment to effective governance and policy-making. As clerk, the form and function of the Human Services Committee was my responsibility, which was a nerve-invoking honor. Serving as the committee clerk offered me the chance to improve my administrative skills, expand organizational horizons, and build close relationships with offices throughout the building. During my time at Baylor University, I pursued a Bachelors Degree in Political Science and History. Along with strengthening my knowledge of state and federal government, I expanded my knowledge of international relations and affairs. My academic career at Baylor was both successful and rigorous and filled with classes that pulled me in all directions. From taking Swahili for several years, to studying the Art of Leisure, my exposure to unique educational topics grew. One topic in particular was centered around the lack of education on internal health and the chronic disease epidemic sweeping our nation. My passion for consumer education and transparency began in college and continues to be evident in my everyday life. It is a blessing to work for a legislator like Lacey Hull who brings a wealth of knowledge and passion on these issues. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to work on State Representative Pat Curry's campaign in the race for House District 56 during my senior year of college. Working on the campaign side of politics offered an insightful view of the work being done to build constituent relationships. It was during this campaign work that I decided the Texas House was were I wanted to be. I am forever thankful for the opportunity and exposure I gained from working in my home district.
