About Caitlin Conroy

I have experience in coating chemistries and guiding R&D projects through concept, feasibility and validations stages, interpreting results and using JMP software to pull necessary information from larger datasets. I am also currently working towards a Green Belt in Lean Six Sigma. I have learned project management skills as well as a further understanding of statistical analysis through this course. I have developed presentation skills through handing projects over to other departments, meaning I have to be meticulous in what I am presenting and have the evidence to support claims being made. I work well as a part of cross functional teams but also thrive when working independently and hold myself accountable to usually short timelines due to being a member of the agile development group. For placement I was working on a PhD project running a Stability Study side project. This was to check the stability of cortisol in salmon scales over a prolonged period of time using accelerated stability methods. The GC-MS was used to analyse the amounts of cortisol so I have become proficient in using this instrument. My thesis was based on analysing the amount of metals in lipstick samples. Standards were made and ran on the Flame AAS, with samples undergoing extractions before being fit to use. Time management and planning is key in running this project in order to divide time between lab work and academic writing.
