About Caitlin Kenney

Caitlin has over a decade of reference and programming experience, in public, academic, and health sciences libraries. In her current capacity as Reference and Research Services Coordinator at the Western New York Library Council (WNYLRC), Caitlin manages a statewide virtual reference cooperative chat service known as Ask Us 24/7, plans professional development programming, and maintains the knowledge database for the statewide Ask The Lawyer service. In addition, she provides health sciences reference services in a local hospital library. She currently serves as Councilor-at-Large on the New York Library Association Council and in the past, served as a Director on the board of NYLA’s Academic and Special Libraries Section. Caitlin has presented on several topics including virtual reference, accessibility and disability, and the Census. She has presented at the WNYLRC Intersect Unconference, Empire State Library Network’s PILLARS, South Central Regional Library Council’s Reflecting On Reference, and at NYLA. Caitlin holds an M.S. in Library and Information Science from the University at Buffalo and a B.A. in English Literature and History from Elmira College. Caitlin is a strong advocate for libraries, library staff, and increasing library funding.
