Caity Bernards joined the Office of Global Affairs as a Global Health Officer in August 2022. They originally joined as a part of the Agency Coordination team, where they facilitate collaboration and knowledge sharing across HHS. Since February 2024, they are also a member of the Asia- Pacific regional team, where they support HHS global activities in Southeast Asia. Prior to OGA, Caity worked with nonprofit and non- governmental organisations at the intersection of public health and human rights. In previous roles, they have managed communications for UNAIDS, USAID, and Gavi- supported projects; counseled unhoused individuals and people with substance use disorder; and trained young adults in leadership and human rights advocacy. Originally from Oregon, their work has brought them to Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, and Guatemala, in addition to Boston, MA, and Washington, DC. Caity has a Master of Public Health from Boston University School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in medical anthropology from Smoothen Oregon University.
